M. R. Conic, Sr.

Bishop Major Rudd Conic, Sr. (M. R. Conic) was born on December 22, 1909.  At eight years old, he attended Christ Missionary & Industrial School (CMI) and later graduated from Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C. In 1928, he returned to Jackson as a teacher at the CMI College for 2 years and later became the school’s president, serving in that position for 4 years.  In 1953, the National Executive Convention body appointed Bishop Conic as pastor of the Christ Temple Church in Chicago, Illinois, and presiding bishop of the northern and western dioceses.

Bishop M. R. Conic of the Church of Christ (Hol.) USA held the position of national president for forty-five years and senior bishop for forty-seven years.  He was the second leader of the church
